A Welcoming New Tartan

Introducing the Scottish Refugee Council Tartan

Slanj Kilts are delighted to introduce the Scottish Refugee Council Tartan. This tartan was created for Scottish Refugee Council, a charity who support thousands of men, women and children as they rebuild their lives in Scotland.

The chosen colours are intended to symbolise the vibrancy and diversity of Scotland's communities as refugees settle and build their lives here.

We met Sabir to chat about the tartan and its potential impact.

‘This tartan provides the opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges that refugees face as they are looking for safety in our communities. The tartan is about refugees but is also about Scotland and our traditions of compassion and kindness.’

Sabir Zazai - CEO Scottish Refugee Council

You can wear the tartan in the form of a kilt, trousers or in more subtle ways like a tie or a keyring. Check all these out on our SRC Tartan Page.

Slanj are proud to have created this beautiful tartan, but more the fact that this tartan has a positive message. The message is that everyone seeking safety should receive the same warm welcome and respect, no matter where they’re from or how they arrived.

What a symbolic way for Scotland to welcome people into the fabric of the nation.
